What is The Brick?

The Brick is a minimalist attention tool that combines a physical NFC device with an iOS app to help you block distractions. With one tap, your iPhone enters a custom “brick mode” that disables access to time-wasting apps, notifications, or anything you’ve chosen to block—transforming your phone into a simpler, calmer device. Tap again to return to normal when you’re ready.

How does The Brick work?

After setting up your preferences in the app, you simply tap your phone to the physical Brick device to activate focus mode. You can create up to five custom modes—like Work, Sleep, or Family Time—each with its own rules about which apps stay available. A built-in “Strict Mode” prevents you from deleting the app or changing settings while you’re focused.

You can also schedule recurring sessions, track your screen time, and set emergency overrides in case you need to exit focus mode early. The Brick adds a layer of real-world friction that makes it easier to stick to your intentions.
